Since the fall of Assad, Western governments and their media outlets have celebrated right alongside the terrorists they supported since 2011. Among the things to cheer, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham has now established control over almost all major cities in Syria and much of the countryside, making Syria essentially a terrorist controlled state. In that capacity, HTS is now imposing various forms of Sharia Law onto a population whose majority prefer a secular state. They must keep those preferences to themselves now, however, as HTS representatives have already told Alawite schoolchildren that any utterance about secular states would result in their deaths.
So, while western governments and corporate media outlets groan on wringing their hands about Sednaya (some real horrors and some imagined), the ongoing killings, bordering on “cleansing” of ethnic and religious minorities is indeed very real. On this issue, there is no handwringing and there are no calls to intervene. On this issue, one can only hear the sound of crickets amongst the screams of Alawites and Christians.
According to sources within Syria, Christians are facing heavy persecution in Salamieh, Hama Province. Alawites are facing more than persecution, with outright torture and killings now the order of the day. The attacks gained steam first in Homs, then Tartous and Lattakia.
All over Syria, women are being told they must wear the hijab, a stark contrast to what Jolani has been saying publicly. Zenobia has been struck from the school textbooks in order to cleanse Syrian history and remove references to powerful infidels.
Those who do not comply, who are Christian or, especially, Alawite, are being systematically fired from their jobs. In fact, jobs and salaries for Alawites are becoming difficult to come by.
Christians are now being labeled “those who have lost God’s way.” Alawites are being labeled “dogs,” “monkeys,” and “shit.”
HTS is allowing in Pakistanis and Chechens, giving them citizenship and houses that belong or belonged to Alawites. Egyptian and Sudanese mercenaries are being brought in to the country as well.
Famous singer “Bahaa al-Youseff’s” house was even stormed by an “unidentified” group where two women in his family and a "young man" were killed. It was largely understood that the “unidentified” group were anti-Alawite extremists. Other reports suggested the victims were his sisters and his nephew.[1]
The Syrian National Army is either powerless or complicit in the violence. They do nothing of consequence to intervene and bring an end to the killings.
All over the country, people are being kidnapped and killed, with young men and former soldiers being summarily executed.
Things have actually gotten so bad in Syria that the people, who only months ago were opposing foreign meddling are now calling for international intervention to protect minorities from the terrorist forces. The desire is so strong that even American intervention seems it would be welcomed by some parties.
“We trust Trump now, more than Putin,” said one Syrian. “Trump never lied.”
“If not stopped, Syria will become a terrorist hub,” he added. “They will be sent to other countries.”
