Terrorists Wage War on Each Other in Syria; New Round Of Propaganda Begins

As the deranged coterie of extremists, religious fanatics, terrorists, and mercenaries known as the Syrian “rebels” begins to disintegrate both from the constant assault by the Syrian military and their own inability to cooperate even amongst themselves, a new attempt at propaganda regarding the nature of the “rebels” is beginning to take shape within Western media outlets.

Indeed, the death squad fratricide now taking place within Syria is slowly but surely being turned into a false narrative of “moderate” versus “extremist” in the death squad camp which will possibly be used to bring the propaganda full circle and provide a representation of some of the death squads as democracy-loving freedom fighters who only want freedom from an oppressive government – a representation which couldn’t be further from the truth.

The divide between various death squad groups has been developing for some time. However, on September 25, a statement was released by the notorious al-Qaeda affiliated ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) declaring war and victory over a fellow terrorist division of the FSA (Free Syrian Army), Liwa Asifat al Shamal.

The statement which can be seen in its original form as posted on Twitter was subsequently translated and posted to LiveLeak. In it, ISIS states that “On Wednesday, we purified the land from what is called Liwa Asifat al Shamal, which God wanted to expose them in front of everyone.” The group went on to list eight “examples of their treason before and now.” ISIS also stated that,

House Cuts Food Stamps, Ignores 1% Wall Streets Sales Tax

Congressional members of the House of Representatives  voted this week on a bill that would cut billions of dollars from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) also commonly known as food stamps. As a result, millions of poor Americans are now staring down the barrel of the reactionary gun while they face the realistic threat that virtually the only source of food available to them will soon be yanked away.

In yet another example of the lurching austerity measures being foisted onto the backs of the American people already riddled with a crippled economy, government mandates, and increasing taxation, the House Agriculture Committee had already approved $20 billion in cuts to SNAP over the next 10 years as part of the reauthorization of the U.S. farm bill. Although SNAP benefits have traditionally been voted on as part of the farm bill itself, reactionaries and austerity proponents  decided to separate the two in an attempt to gut SNAP in terms of funding and availability.

Indeed, the bill which House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) helped promote within the House would not only remove the “categorical eligibility” determination, but it would double the cuts agreed to by the House Agriculture Committee to a total of $40 billion of “savings” (meaning cuts) to the program over the next 10 years. This is because, now that Cantor and his reactionary friends are getting their way, food stamp recipients will be required to spend 20 hours a week at a job or job training. Thus, with the implementation of these proposed rules, the number of individuals eligible for the programs are logically going to decline.

“Categorical eligibility” is simply a technique used by states to determine whether or not an individual is eligible for food stamp benefits based on whether or not the person has qualified for other government-based poverty relief programs. Categorical eligibility is, the states argue, a way to increase efficiency and to cut down on bureaucracy since the individuals will not have to apply for the same basic benefits twice and go through a lengthy approval process with the relevant agencies. This is one of the changes that the reactionaries want to remove – forcing states to increase the level of bureaucratic involvement and slow down the response time for food stamp applications.

Syria Chemical Weapons Victims Were Staged Using Kidnapped Hostages: Report

With the recent release of the UN report on the Ghouta chemical weapons attack, it is clear that the propaganda push against the Syrian government and Bashar al-Assad is still in full swing. Indeed, with headlines such as “Forensic Details in UN Report Point To Assad’s Use of Gas” by the New York Times and “UN report confirms chemical weapons use in Syria” by NBC, Western media outlets have done the thinking for the American people and have determined that not only did Assad use chemical weapons but that the UN investigators were responsible for this determination.

Of course, the task of the investigators was not to determine who used the chemical weapons, only to determine whether or not they were used to begin with. Still, Western governments and their media mouthpieces have been adamant in placing the blame on Assad, despite all relevant and available evidence showing that it was, in fact, the death squads running rampant in Syria that used the chemical weapons.

Yet, while so much attention has been placed on the UN chemical weapons report (which was not tasked with determining the guilt over who used the chemical weapons), very little attention has been paid to another report compiled by the International Support Team for Mussalaha (Consilience) in Syria for the International Institute For Peace, Justice, and Human Rights released on September 15, 2013.

The report, entitled “The Chemical Attacks On East Ghouta: To Justify Military Right To Protect Intervention In Syria,” and authored largely by Mother Agnes Mariam of the Cross, who is President of ISTEAMS, not only argues that the chemical weapons attacks were the handiwork of the Syrian death squads, but also that the entire ordeal was a carefully crafted and planned propaganda campaign utilizing kidnapped citizens from Lattakiah, Syria as stage props.

Lattakiah was the area which was invaded and overrun by death squads in early August 2013, with 11 Alawite villages being overrun on August 4and over 150 women and children abducted by Jobhat al Nusra. Allegedly, the Nusra Front was attempting to use them as ransom for the release of jailed detainees.

Egypt Takes Path Toward Rejecting Globalist Control

In what many analysts are considering a decided shift back toward Egyptian Nasserism (meaning Arab nationalism based upon the precedent set by former Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser), the Egyptian Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade, Mounir Fkhry Abdel-Nour has stated that Egypt will no longer be seeking a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

This decision, which was largely anticipated by those following the Egyptian countercoup and the apparent nationalistic tendencies of Gen. Sisi, would reverse a trend that was set in motion decades ago by corrupt Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak and accelerated by Muslim Brotherhood fanatic Muhammed Morsi. Under both Mubarak and Morsi, Egyptian standards of living plummeted, prices rose, and economic stagnation took hold. As a condition of the IMF loans, an onslaught of “free-market” reforms, privatizations schemes, and austerity measures began to take place with even more being expected in the future, such as a value-added tax publicly advocated by the Muslim Brotherhood ruling class.

The history of the IMF’s involvement in Egypt is, as it has been everywhere else, a tragic one.

As Jack Shenker of the Guardian wrote in 2009,
Ever since, the country has been subject to successive waves of neoliberal reform. In 1996 a huge privatisation drive kicked off – resulting in sham sales to public banks and regime cronies, a rapid deterioration of working conditions and a wave of strikes so powerful that one analyst labelled it the largest social movement seen in the Middle East in half a century.

California Police Shoot Injured Animals at the Range

If anyone in America still remains ignorant of the increasingly violent and hostile nature of their law enforcement officers, then one might do well to pay a visit to the Merced, California police shooting range to catch a glimpse of the psychopathic, cruel, and savage nature that has now encompassed the vast majority of police in this country.

In what sounds more like a fabricated Internet rumor, the fact is that the Merced, California Police Department has been taking injured animals to the shooting range and shooting them for target practice, as discussed in the video below.

In fact, this horrific behavior was actually first reported by CBS13 out of California, when discussing police procedure in regards to shooting injured animals in the field. Unfortunately, the CBS report did not focus on the Merced Police Department's horrific animal executions nearly as much as it should have.

Instead, they chose to focus on more “mundane” situations in which an officer may find an injured animal “in the field” who is in unbearable pain and, one might argue, would be better off dead. The idea, in short, is that, in some cases, if the animal is going to die anyway, it may be more humane to take its life than to let it continue to suffer.

The California penal code reads,

Israel's Chemical Weapons Stockpile Highlights Western Hypocrisy

Unmitigated hysteria continues to be expressed regarding the possession of chemical weapons by the Syrian government. This continues despite the fact that there is absolutely no evidence tying the Assad government to the deployment of chemical weapons in Syria. The U.S. government and the rest of the Anglo-American network relentlessly demonstrates its unwavering hypocrisy on the chemical weapons and WMD issue.

Syria and Iraq’s possession of chemical WMDs have been considered to be situations warranting an immediate military response, while the possibility of a nuclear Iran is used to browbeat the American populace into a state of fear over a nuclear holocaust. Meanwhile, the possession of chemical and biological weapons, as well as hundreds of nuclear warheads by the state of Israel, has been simultaneously denied and ignored. Clearly, some Middle Eastern countries re more equal than others.

Yet, while both Israel and the West have denied the existence of many of these weapons for some time, a recent article published by the official magazine of the Council on Foreign Relations, Foreign Policy, has demonstrated that Israel does indeed possess chemical and biological weapons, as well as its own nuclear stockpile.

The report entitled “Does Israel Have Chemical Weapons Too?” revolves around a recently discovered document belonging to the Central Intelligence Agency which was apparently found by a friend of Matthew M. Aid, the author of the article, at the Ronald Reagan Library -- a single page had been stapled to an “innocuous unclassified document.” The page was attached to a September 15, 1983 report entitled “Implications of Soviet Use of Chemical and Toxin Weapons for US Security Interests.”

The unclassified report dealt with unproven claims regarding Soviet chemical and biological weapons usage in Afghanistan and Southeast Asia and was largely declassified in 2009. Interestingly enough, however, while the CIA was willing to declassify the part of the report that dealt with Soviet possession and use of chemical and biological weapons as well as that of some of its client states, the agency was much less willing to declassify the sections of the report dealing with countries outside of the Soviet sphere. Indeed, censors actually removed virtually all of the information related to the Middle East before releasing it to the National Archives. Most notably, all references to what the CIA believed it knew regarding Israel’s chemical weapons programs in 1983 were entirely scrubbed.

5 Ways 'Incontrovertible Evidence' on Syria is Controvertible

As the push for war against Syria continues and as the President prepares a propaganda assault against the distracted American public regarding the Administration’s assertion that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has used chemical weapons on his own people, many informed observers are having flashbacks to Iraq in 2003.

Such a comparison between the Iraq invasion and the current push to attack Syria is not without warrant. In fact, the parallels between the events leading up to the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq and the planned repeat against Syria not only exist but are strikingly similar. Thankfully, however, the thirst for war which was so present in the minds of the American public in 2003 seems to have waned slightly due to a culmination of apathy and disastrous results of foreign military adventures in recent years.

Nevertheless, the propaganda push to gain control over the hearts and minds of the American people continues in full force, with Skull and Bones John Kerry repeating the same tired claims of convincing evidence and incontrovertible proof of Assad’s use of chemical weapons while, at the same time, refusing to show such proof to Congress or the American people.

Of course, whatever “proof” that has been shown has done nothing to bolster the Administration’s claims. In fact, the documents presented to lawmakers have actually raised more questions than they have answered.

Thus, with the ability of a sustained propaganda assault on an entertainment-obsessed population to become more and more successful as time moves on, it is important to understand just what “evidence” is being cleverly presented to us as justification for war.
